Saying "Yes" when obtaining or renewing your driver's license or identification card automatically enrolls you in the Donor Registry. In Colorado, a heart symbol will appear on your license and in Wyoming, the word "Donor" appears on the front of your license.

Q: When I renewed my driver's license in Colorado they asked me if I would like to contribute a $1.00 or more to the Donor Awareness Fund. Who receives this money?
A: All motorists, when applying for or renewing their Colorado drives license, are given the opportunity to make a contribution to the Emily Maureen Ellen Keyes Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Fund. The fund was created in 1996 by the Colorado State Legislature to increase organ and tissue donation in our state. In 2007, the Fund was extended to 2018.

Contributions to the Fund go directly to the Donor Awareness Council, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization whose sole purpose is to increase organ and tissue donation through public education and awareness.

Q: When I applied for my motor vehicle registration in Wyoming, they asked me to make a donation to the Wyoming Cares/Wyoming Shares Fund. What does the money go towards?
A: All motorists, when applying for or renewing their Wyoming motor vehicle registrations, are given the opportunity to make a contribution to the Wyoming Cares/Wyoming Shares Fund. The fund was created by the Wyoming State Legislature to increase organ and tissue donation in the state.

Contributions to the Wyoming Cares/Wyoming Shares Fund are managed by the Wyoming Department of Health and are used to increase organ and tissue donation through public education and awareness.
