Links Donor Awareness and Education Donor Awareness Council: That's us! A nonprofit coalition formed to increase organ and tissue donation through public awareness and education within our community. Donate Life America: Coalition dedicated to educating the public about organ and tissue donation, correcting misconceptions about donation and creating a greater willingness to donate. The coalition's web site also includes links to other states' web sites. The coalition also has a Spanish-language web site: www.donevida.org. Black Transplants Action Committee: Educates the African American population on organ and tissue donation. Transplant Speakers International, Inc.: A nonprofit corporation composed solely of transplant recipients donor families that educates the public through live public speaking engagements presented from a donor-recipient perspective. Organ, Tissue, Eye, Marrow and Blood Donation AlloSource: AlloSource is a non-profit bone and tissue bank which focuses on serving the Donor Awareness Council service area with the highest quality of musculoskeletal grafts for orthopedic and neurological applications. American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB): Facilitates the provision of high quality transplantable human tissue in quantities sufficient to meet national needs. Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation: The Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation, the nation’s largest tissue bank, changes lives by connecting donors with surgeons and transplant recipients. Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO): National representative of organ procurement organizations (OPOs). Bonfils Blood Center: In partnership with the community, Bonfils Blood Center saves and enhances lives through blood donation and public education. ClinImmune Labs: The Lab provides histocompatibility testing and general transplantation educational services to physicians and the public. Donor Alliance: Federally-designated organ and tissue procurement agency for Colorado and most of Wyoming. Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA): Dedicated to the restoration of sight through the promotion and advancement of eye banking. National Marrow Donor Program: The National Marrow Donor Program aims to establish, maintain and improve a system that provides bone marrow transplants from volunteer unrelated donors for patients with leukemia and other life threatening blood diseases. Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank: A nonprofit organization dedicated to fulfilling the altruistic wish of our eye donors and their families to help another in need through transplantation of donated eye tissues. United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS): A non-profit organization that operates the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network and maintains a national system to assure equal access for all patients needing organs for transplantation. Transplantation Division of Transplantation: Provides Federal oversight and funding support for the nation's organ procurement, allocation, and transplantation system; coordinates national organ and tissue donation activities and funds research to learn more about what works to increase donation; administers the national bone marrow registry program. American Society of Transplantation: Transplant professionals dedicated to research, education, advocacy and patient care in transplantation science and medicine. North American Transplant Coordinator's Organization (NATCO): Professional society of more than 1,750 transplant coordinators representing the largest group of transplant professionals in North America. American Transplant Association: Dedicated to providing patient-oriented education and services to those affected by and interested in organ transplantation. Cincinnati Transplant Institute: An interactive resource for healthy transplant living. Transplant Centers, Colorado The Children's Hospital: The Children's Hospital offers a full range of pediatric transplant services, including cardiac, kidney, lung and bone marrow, and is recognized nationally for being at the forefront in pediatric transplant procedures. Porter Transplant Service, Centura Health - Porter Adventist Hospital: Porter Transplant Service performs kidney, pancreas, and liver transplants to improve the quality of lives in the Rocky Mountain Region. Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center (PSL): PSL performs kidney, pancreas, kidney/pancreas, bone marrow - autologous, allogeneic, marrow, peripheral stem cell transplants and is a National Marrow Donor Program site. University of Colorado Hospital: The world's first liver transplant took place at University of Colorado Hospital in 1963 and the first double-lung transplant for adult cystic fibrosis took place in the early 90's. The hospital performs liver, heart, lung, kidney and pancreas transplantation. Transplant Recipients transAction Council: National Kidney Foundation's council for recipients of all organs (not just kidney!), those waiting for organ transplants and the families affected by transplantation. Transplant Athletics: National Kidney Foundation's programs for organ transplant athletes, including the U.S. Transplant Games and World Games. Second Wind Support Group Lung Transplant Info: Formed in 1995 by a small group of people that wanted to supply information about lung transplantation to others. Donor Families National Donor Family Council: Home to over 10,000 donor families and related professionals, the NDFC is the largest organization in the world dedicated to the care and support of organ and tissue donor families. Living Donors NKF's Living Donor Programs: National Kidney Foundation's comprehensive resource for living donors or all organs, those considering donating, family members and healthcare professionals. NKF of Georgia's Living Donor Program: A professional and community outreach program dedicated to increasing the number of living donors through education, advocacy and support. Donate Life America: Living Donor Information: A not-for-profit alliance of national organizations and local coalitions that educate the public about organ and tissue donation, correct misconceptions about donation and create a greater willingness to donate. Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN): About Living Donation: Information about living donation from the unified transplant network established by the United States Congress (National Organ Transplant Act of 1984). Living Donors Online: An online community for living donors, potential donors, their families, and the medical community. Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR): The SRTR supports the ongoing evaluation of the scientific and clinical status of solid organ transplantation in the United States. It is administered by the University Renal Research and Education Association (URREA) with the University of Michigan. This is a good resource for data and references on donation and transplantation in the U.S. National Transplant Assistance Fund (NTAF): The NTAF is a not-for-profit resource that helps raise funds for transplant recipients and living donors. NTAF provides fundraising ideas and guidance for patients raising money for uninsured medically related expenses. Related Health Organizations American Liver Foundation: National voluntary organization dedicated to preventing, treating, and curing hepatitis and other liver and gallbladder diseases through research and education. American Lung Association: Health organization that fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health. National Kidney Foundation: A major voluntary health organization that seeks to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation. National Kidney Foundation of Colorado, Montana and Wyoming: Our local National Kidney Foundation affiliate and U.S. Transplant Games manager for Team Rocky Mountain. Renal Support Network: An excellent peer-driven support site for people affected by kidney disease. Be sure to check the Patient Action Center on their home page. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Information on Organ and Tissue Donation: National information on donation including Secretary Tommy Thompson's Gift of Life Donation Initiative, discussing programs such as the Workplace Partnership for Life and the National Gift of Life Medal.
