In November 2003, Donor Awareness Council held its inaugural Youth Outreach Event. Over 200 high school students from three different denominations participated in an evening of food, fun and music while learning about organ and tissue donation firsthand from two remarkable young women.

Leslie McCall, 23, a heart transplant recipient, and Nicole Marini, 16, the sister of a young tissue donor, shared their very poignant journeys through donation and transplantation, encouraging students from St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Congregation Rodef Shalom and Hope United Methodist Church to ask questions and openly discuss what they learned.

The Youth Outreach Event was so successful that Donor Awareness Council's Religious Advisory Committee would like to promote and host annual events throughout Colorado's faith community.
